He is currently Professor of Theoretical Physics and Chair in the Public Engagement in Science at the University of Surrey. He has hosted several BBC productions about science and is a frequent commentator about science in other British media. He currently presents the weekly radio 4 programme, "The Life Scientific", on BBC Radio Four. Beginning in October 2012, it is broadcast every Tuesday morning for half the year.
